What time does the boat sail to/from Texel?

For full information on the crossing, see the website of T.E.S.O (Texels Eigen Stoomboot Onderneming):

The normal TESO timetable is as follows:

  • From Den Helder there is an hourly departure from 6.30am to 9.30pm.
The boat leaves at the half hour.
  • From Texel there is an hourly departure from 6am to 9pm.
The boat leaves at the whole hour.
  • There are often extra departures on Fridays, Sundays and busy days: every half hour. See the T.E.S.O website.

The crossing is quick and takes a short time: about 20 minutes. Tip: bring old bread for the gulls that fly with the boat: an attraction!

How do I buy tickets for the boat to/from Texel?

For full information on the crossing, see the website of T.E.S.O (Texels Eigen Stoomboot Onderneming):

Buy tickets online (press this link: e-ticket) or at the ticket offices near the boat in Den Helder, which you drive through. With an e-ticket, you will usually join a slightly shorter queue and have to wait for less time. You will find the fares here.

The ticket is a return ticket; on the boat back to Den Helder, your ticket will not be checked again. You can travel back without a ticket.

How does paying via PayPal work?

PayPal is basically an intermediary for online payments. It is an easy, secure way to pay for online purchases. It also eliminates the need to share personal information (name, bank account number) with strangers.

The easiest way for you as a tenant is to create your own PayPal account if you don't already have one, but you don't have to. The creation process does take some time (for bank accounts for sure, credit card goes faster) because PayPal withdraws amounts of a few cents from your account as a check and asks you how much exactly: that's the check. After this check and filling in some details, your PayPal account is active and you can transfer money online very easily and safely. Or you transfer via PayPal without an account, which is an option in their menu.

What to do on departure?

Upon departure, we request that the following be taken care of. The following items will be checked after your departure for the return of the deposit:

  • Wash, dry and tidy up dishes.
  • Kitchen inventory dry and clean in cupboards.
  • Empty fridge/freezer, defrost, clean and dry, empty and clean pedal bins and empty and clean the coffee machines. Don't forget to take out the cups!
  • Put furniture back where it was on arrival.
  • Deposit rubbish in a closed grey bag in the roadside containers. Household waste, including nappies and dog waste bags, in a closed grey bag in the grey container. Put plastic and cans in a transparent dense yellow bag in the container with the orange lid, not loose! Garden waste in the green container, no food waste! Deposit glass in a public bottle bank (at end - north - of the Vuurtorenweg, at the junction). Bring returnable bottles. No nappies loose in the containers, no food waste in the green container (because of smell and vermin): please put it in a bag in the grey container.
  • Remove bed linen (only if used, except mattress protectors) and deposit them on the beds.
  • Turn off all lights. Report defective lights and other issues to the owners via app/mail/phone.
  • Terrace furniture clean in the shed, except the lounge corner outside: put low table in the shed & the cushions in the bin in the shed (especially if it rains!!). Put cover over the lounge corner if no tenants come after you.
  • Toys and bikes in the shed, except the trampoline (put the rain cover over the trampoline if no tenants come after you).
  • Leaving floors 'wipe clean'. Check (under and in) sofas and beds for items left behind.
  • Sweep the fireplace inside. Empty the ash pan. Place the ash and wood in a sealed bag in the grey container, not in the green one.
  • Please leave the barbecue empty, with a clean grid. Just like the fire bowl and outdoor stove: please also put these ashes in a closed grey bag in the grey container.
  • Close and, if possible, lock windows and doors.
  • Didn't you forget anything? Charge cords, stuffed toys, dressing gown are popular stragglers :-)!
  • Leaving the key at the agreed place.

If the above points are not met, we will be forced to claim an amount for additional work afterwards.
